What do you most associate with Fukui Prefecture?
It is "Hometown Day" in Fukui Prefecture today. Whether you have been there or not, what do you most associate with Fukui Prefecture?
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com

For me it's gotta be the dinosaurs! A massive majority of the dinosaur fossils found here have come from Fukui, which I think is a pretty cool claim to fame for a prefecture to have! I also think of the Tojinbo Cliffs which were a cool natural phenomenon to see in person! They're really scenic. I hope more people will get to visit there now that it's reachable by shinkansen. It's an underrated prefecture for sure!

@TonetoEdo the ceramics are a good representation of Fukui's artisanship culture. They also have some great knives and washi paper in Echizen!

@genkidesu I was aware of Echizen washi, the paper-making tradition. Your response made me look up Echizen knives. I'd love to have a good kitchen knife from the craftspeople there.
