News outlets specific to your prefecture?

What news outlets provide news specific to your prefecture? Are there news outlets for your prefecture in languages besides Japanese?

My go-to for this is the Niigata Nippo: https://www.niigata-nippo.co.jp/ It is in Japanese, though, but I find I can muddle my way through or use Google Translate for parts. I'm not aware of any English-language sources for Niigata Prefecture news, but I wonder if that comes down to demand, as we're not one of the higher international resident prefectures.

@genkidesu I discovered that the Niigata Nippo is one of the 47 News group. Chiba Nippo is one in the group, too, but to read a whole article, you have to subscribe. Today, I'm getting an error message for Chiba outlet. I wonder if it's simply down or gone... NHK's website has a tab, 地域発 chiiki hatsu meaning originitating in the region and it lists news from all prefectures. I guess that's where I'm getting my info for now.

@TonetoEdo Just looked up the NHK prefectural news site you mentioned, and I like how it's a laid out! Easy to understand and I like that it's a nationwide breakdown, so I can pick any region to see what's happening in the area.

Yahoo used to have a great one, but they got rid of it during the pandemic. We have Teretama, which is okay, but not great. If there are other languages beside Japanese, I've yet to come across them!

Condiments in your fridge?

Just for fun! I was thinking the other day how different the contents of my fridge are to the fridge I grew up with! Just one example, I always have soy sauce in my fridge and usually at least one other unopened bottle in the cupboard. There was never soy sauce in my fridge growing up. And the friends I grew up with don't have soy sauce in their fridges even now. But my Uni friends all have soy sauce in their fridges, because they all lived in Japan for at least a year. I was just wondering what things do you have in your fridge here that you probably wouldn't have in your fridge in your home country had you never lived here.

Moving house process

I've been in my apartment for nearly 7 years. I've got my eye on an apartment one station closer to work. But I forgot what it was like to move in here! It was all a bit traumatic... Have you got some packing tips, suggestions for how to move your household goods, and what to save for last?

Golden Week 2025 plans?

This year's Golden Week gives us Tuesday, April 29th, and then potentially a four-day weekend from May 3rd to 6th. How are you intending to spend the break? Will you travel, "staycation", or dare I ask, work through it?
