Can we still include hotlinks in our blog posts?

I noticed that I can't insert hot links in blog posts today, August 25th. Is this feature working for you?

It hasn't been working for me for a couple of weeks now :( It works in the draft format (it lets me add the link, and it seems clickable there) but it disappears once I submit the post. I've taken to just adding links at the bottom of the article where I'm writing about something I've read in the media or need to include a source, but hoping the team behind the scenes might have a more logical long term fix. I feel like it makes blogs a bit clunky when the links aren't just part of the text!

@genkidesu I'll follow your model, including the links at the foot of the blog. I hope the hot link feature gets repaired soon. I strive to provide value and back up what I write with relevant links.

@TonetoEdo agreed, I think it's important! @CityCost are you able to look into this? Not super urgent, but would be helpful going forward.

@genkidesu and @CityCost hot links are so valuable. I want to direct readers to government resources that help foreign residents, official tourism websites, and blogs by fellow City Cost writers.

I've noticed the same. Is it just me or have things around here (like the Themes) been gradually dropping off for a couple years now?

@helloalissa Yes, the themes dropped off around June(ish) last year and haven't come back, so I do think overall it has been quieter here. Also I don't see any updates anymore from the City-Cost "features" section (the last one was almost exactly 12 months ago) or on their social media accounts.

I had noticed this. And because of it, I couldn't add a video to a video post! I assumed that links added through the video medium would be separate, but evidently not!

@BigfamJapan Oh, no! I had intended to try my hand at video production to enhance my posts...

What unusual items do you have in your emergency bag?

In honor of Disaster Prevention Day and further to the preparedness articles I just wrote, I am curious: what item/s do you have in your emergency bag aka disaster preparedness kit, that might not be common nationwide?

Reflections on our home countries after living in Japan

I think one thing living in Japan has given me is an appreciation of things my country does really well, and things it doesn't do so well in comparison to here. For instance, I think Australia is great with annual leave entitlements. You get four weeks automatically (some workplaces offer even more!) and there's not any guilt associated with taking it. Something we don't do so well is public transport. I know that Australia is a massive country, but there has been talk of creating a high speed rail option from Melbourne to Sydney for ages, and nothing has ever come of it. It's basically an 8 hour drive or flying. Also, inner city trains are regularly not on time. What are the things you think your home country does better or worse than Japan?

Hair Color Treatments for Greying Hair

For those of you who have colored grey hair, I'm curious about the hair color treatments available in most drugstores. They seem simpler to use than box dyes. It's been many years since I've colored my hair. It's a chestnut brown and my grey is more silver. I don't hate it but the grey is dry and making me feel like I look older than I am. I'm especially interested in the natural brands that are non-permanent. For example Rishiri Kombu sounds like a decent option. Looking forward to your recommendations and experience.

Database error

Anyone else getting a database error after you log in? So far, it looks like I can still write posts, but I had trouble logging in and after log in my home page looks different to normal with a "database error" message.
