Do you wear kimono? When and where?

In what environments have you worn kimono, hakama, or other traditional clothing? My only kimono experience is Heian period garb - basket hat, veil, and hakama - at a regional festival. I'm curious about daily kimono wear. Have you found a community or school that trains you in kimono wear? How much time do you dedicate to dressing?

I've only worn kimono for trips I've taken to designated touristy places (one was Kyoto) where they help you get dressed and all that. I feel like it's still a bit complex for me, and while it's no doubt beautiful I think the practicality aspect makes it tricky. Yukata, on the other hand, I feel like I wear more regularly, like during summer festivals when everyone else has them on!

I am very lucky that my mother in law is a professional kimono dresser. So whenever I wear kimono, or even just yukata, she dresses me. She also dressed the kids for their 7-5-3 and graduation ceremonies. I haven't worn a kimono / yukata in a long time, because I do find it very constricting. But in the past I have worn them to ceremonies and festivals.

@BigfamJapan that is so cool (and convenient) to have a family member who can help, and who knows how to do that in a professional capacity! I'm sure I would wear kimono more if that was the case.

To be honest, I realized in writing about this 'birthday', that I know next to nothing about Wakayama Prefecture. I'm really interested to hear what your image of the prefecture is.
