The walk to and from the shrine is half the fun
I've often walked the Daibutsu trail from Kita-Kamakura Station to the Kamakura Daibutsu. I highly recommend this route that takes you past parks, shrines, and temples. There are some good views of the Kamakura valley from the ridges. Zeniarai Benzaiten is your reward for hiking. It's interesting for the syncretic Ugafukujin, a Shinto deity, and Saraswati, from Hindu and Buddhist traditions. She's the goddess of arts and learning. Wash your hard-earned cash in the spring to ask for prosperity. The rest of the walk is mostly downhill to Hasedera and the Daibutsu.

Wash your money and see it double?
Zeniarai Benten Shrine isn't a particularly large shrine, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in fun. The whole premise of the shrine here is that if you wash your money at the shrine's spring, it's meant to double. It's one of the more unique shrines that I've visited for that reason, and while I don't think washing my money had any effect on my overall finances, it's a fun thing to do. Worth visiting if you're in the area.
