Cozy Tonkatsu
This tonkatsu restaurant does not look like a restaurant from the outside, at least at a glance from non-Japanese eyes. The big tip-off is the lit menu board outside the doors. As someone with very little Japanese, it took some courage to go in, but my party of three was welcomed in politely from the rain. The staff have almost zero English, but they do have an English menu. The variety is a bit small, but the helpings are quite generous. The tonkatsu they make is also surprisingly tender on the inside. Despite our near nonexistent Japanese, the staff still tried to have small talk with us throughout our stay and were very friendly throughout the visit. Seating is a bit limited, but considering the restaurant looks to be operating out of a family home, it is very reasonable. There are only two wide tables, two cafe tables that seat two people each, and four, maybe five, counter seats. The home setting also makes the ambience a bit more comfortable.
