Chicken burger was no bueno - friends liked the beef!

I’m not a fan of giving mediocre reviews but in the interests of honesty sometimes it’s necessary. Démodé Diner is situated across the road from the Yokota Air Base main gate on Route 16, and takes the appearance of a retro American Diner. They have all the typical American fare you’d expect here - think burgers, pizzas, hot dogs and onion rings - and we went here with some friends on their recommendation. I ordered a chicken burger with fries and it was perhaps a chicken burger done Japanese style - very fatty, chewy, and not what you’d probably expect if you were used to an American style chicken burger. It’s not kid friendly (smoking is allowed inside) and if you don’t like the wafting smell of smoke I’d advise against going for that reason too. Our friends really enjoyed their regular beef burgers though so perhaps that’s where some of their popularity lies.
