Light-filled, central shopping center
The architecture of the Cocoon City complex adjacent to Saitama Shintoshin Station isn't flashy. The three low-slung buildings are connected by walkways that let light. Cocoon has two supermarkets, fast food, casual dining, and coffee shops. It's also easy to navigate with good wayfinding maps and signage. Cocoon services are convenient, too - outdoor play space, pet-friendly areas, pet-sitting, and coin lockers. Even better, you can connect to free WIFI in Cocoon 1 and 2.

Urban Mall in modern city
Saitama Shintoshin literally means Saitama's New City Center and it is a very apt and fitting name for the area in Saitama's capital city. The area does indeed have a "new" modern feel to it with stark urban architect. Cocoon City was developed to fit in with the area's transit town image and expedient facilities and services. Cocoon city is spread out around Saitama Shintoshin station into three principal buildings. Cocoon 1 has been there for as long as I remember, but Cocoon 2 and 3 were only added in the last couple of years. They have a great selection of shops, services, restaurants, coffee shops, amenities and services. It also provides a good choice of entertainment attractions with its cinema and play areas. The place is always buzzing with people and despite the huge choice of eateries, it is not uncommon to have to queue to get into a restaurant at lunch hour in particular. The shops are open from 10 am to 9 pm seven days a week. The restaurants and coffee shops have their own individual hours. Parking is charged. It is minutes walk from Saitama Shintoshin station.
