  • Perfectly Average Gym

A prototypical community sports complex. The training room is a bit rundown in some respects. Many of the benches are repaired using duct tape matching the color of the bench, red for red, blue for blue, etc. You pay the fee at the automated machine a bit separated from the reception counter and then exchange your ticket for the gym pass, which you take with you and then surrender to a small basket near the entrance as you leave. There are several treadmills for cardio workouts, a reasonable number of stationary bikes, and about four elliptical machines available. More or less any sort of equipment you need with a healthy helping of dumbbells to complete just about any type of workout. The daily fee is ¥310 yen for a one day use ticket. The gym has several studios available for use for the community, and they are frequently booked for sports clubs like table tennis, stretching, yoga, or martial arts. There is a lounge on the second floor and several open spaces for kids to play with parent supervision. There is a large gym at the far end of the main building almost always converted for basketball use, but there are several events on the weekends like dance or other sports festivals. The staff widely varies in their ability to help. The older staff tend to be much more involved and friendly while the younger staff seem a bit more standoffish and less involved with customer service overall. There is a pool in a separate building with its own open hours and a lawn bowling area in the back. No standouts, but all the basics are covered.
