  • Tiny bakery with average offerings

Tried a few different treats from this tiny bakery in the Eastern ward. The first was the curry roll, and it was different than most bakeries because the roll wasn’t fried, it was a spongy roll filled with rich curry with meat and vegetables, but the all star of the roll was the veggies, lots of large chunks of potatoes and carrots stole the show. Delicious but not outstanding. The second was the potato focaccia rolls which were made with glutinous barley giving them a much chewier texture that the usual focaccia rolls, almost making them taste like sourdough as much as focaccia. Again, overall delicious, but not so much so that I could overlook the pronounced differences in the traditional focaccia versus this bakery’s version. The final was the plain scones. Again, they were chewier than I am accustomed to, and they were made from spelt wheat which gave them a tangy and chewy texture. Their flavor profile was a bit bland, so I recommend having them with a cup of coffee or tea. There is one parking space behind the bakery, but if it’s occupied, then the only option is to park at the nearby 7-11 and walk over. The bakery also sells sandwiches, but I went too early, and they weren’t available yet. They hit the shelves around 11 am. The bakery overall was good, but with the parking and sometimes underwhelming breads/rolls, unless you’re specifically in the area, there are other bakeries to enjoy.
