Relaxing and Enjoyable Hotel
I wasn't sure what to think of this fancy looking piece of work positioned out in the rice fields of Yamagata, but it won me over. The design was interesting and the onsen was enticing enough that we went despite the pandemic. Though only the indoor ladies bath was open, it was also vacant when we went and very comfortable. The hotel boasts a restaurant, a bar, and a couple of libraries with reading rooms for those inclined to bury themselves in a borrowed book. My daughter and I even sat down with a large English language art photography book after our bath. To avoid issues with the pandemic, the included breakfast was served bento-style but unfortunately only half of it was made of food my picky western palate could appreciate. The room itself was small but comfortable with an interactive tablet device for information and mask-saving envelopes for our own personal usage. It was a little on the pricey side for us, but we really enjoyed our stay. We didn't even get to check out this kids dome, which felt a little too dangerous these days but will definitely be on our list when all this pandemic business is over.
