A surviving tree and antique market site

Enmei-in, the Nichiren sect temple on Gotenzaka, the slope west of Nippori Station, is worth a look. In the garden is a tsuburaji, or Japanese chinquapin tree. The tree is several hundred years old, a survivor of various calamities over the last few centuries. The temple is the site of the Yanaka Antiques Market. Check the website and Instagram account before you go. The market is canceled in bad weather. I was there on a rainy February holiday with just a few plum trees starting to bloom. https://www.yanaka-antique-market.com/english/
