Neat Little Pizzeria in the Ricefield
My husband found this place online and without being a local I am pretty sure that's the only way to find it. The pizzas were fresh and delicious, offering a few more varities than our fabulous local joint back in Miyagi. This Yamagata Pizzeria is a member of Vera Pizza, a Napoli style pizza database that seems to require specific training and usage of approved ingredients to become a member. It was actually quite nice, even during the pandemic. The structure of little house-turned-restaurant reminded me of the antique farmhouse my aunt owns back in Texas, but of course as a restaurant it was much cleaner. We were sat at a table in an alcove in the front, which meant every person who came in had to walk past us but we weren't right next to a large mask-less group. After the meal, we went across the path outside to the gelato hut where my husband and I enjoyed afternoon beverages and my daughter wolfed down some ymmu gelato. It was a lovely time and worth the stop if you're in the area and enjoy Napoli style pizza.
