Ancient temple, start of the Gongen Michi path
Tokuzoji, a Shingon Buddhist temple established in 1575, is a quiet and beautifully landscaped temple with huge stones. Its object of admiration is Kobo Daishi and the temple has acquired a nickname - Gyotoku's Fudomyo for the Alacala, or Fudomyo image also housed here. The temple has two elegant structures - a sutra repository and a bell tower. Locals ring the bell for Joyo no Kane, the new year observance. The temple also has a goma fire ritual on the 28th of each month. It's also one of the temples and shrines along the footpath called Gongen Michi.
