Tourist info, bike rentals, and omiyage

I wrapped up my visit to Ashikaga City at Taiheikikan, the visitors center about a 12-minute walk from Ashikaga Station on the JR line. The center provides tourism information about the historical city, a small cafe, and sells local products. The center displays the reproduction armor and helmet worn by actor Hiroyuki Sanada in the NHK drama "Taiheiki". The center is one of two bicycle rental spots in the city. Next time I go, I'll start here and rent a bike here for half a day as some places of interest are a little far from the historic district. Taikehikikan is open every daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
