Never would I have played the taiko drums

There are many different types of musical instruments around the world. And Japan has a decent selection of Japanese musical instruments that aren't readily available in other countries. Taiko drums for example. Most people know what they are, but they aren't necessarily available in other countries. Particularly the large sized ones. I don't think I would have ever played the taiko drums had I not lived in Japan. 

I had the opportunity and the great experience of playing taiko drums with taiko drum professionals in the hills of Higashi Chichibu, Saitama prefecture, several years ago. It is one of the most memorable experiences I've had since I first came to Japan in 2000. In fact, its probably in my top 10. Moreover, it is something that I could never have experienced in my home country. Not just the experience of playing with professionals, but actually just playing a proper large size taiko drum.
