I got my children McDonald's for the first time in a good while recently and as a special treat I ordered the new, limited edition, Creme Brulee Hot Donuts. They are quite small, but in one way that is perfect, because children in particular can feel quite full after a McDonald's (although unfortunately it is not a lasting fullness!) There's only a couple of bites in them, so the word "donut" might be misleading to some. These are mini, round donuts - they remind me of scotch eggs in appearance! They are crunchy on the outside with smooth caramel inside. The brulee flavor is subtle but adds a nice touch of richness.

As far as I am aware, the Crème Brûlée Hot Donut is only available for a limited period of time. Although, who knows, if its popular enough maybe they'll introduce it as a permanent fixture! It is a "one size fits all" type offering in that you can only buy in a pack of three. You can't buy one individually and there are no larger packs either. Three is too small for our family, so we would end up buying two packs if we were to eat them regularly. The price isn't that bad, but it would add up in this situation. Overall, though, my daughters in particular were happy with this product and I know they would order it again given the chance. Me, on the other hand, trying it once is enough for me. I don't go to McDonald's often anymore and even when I do, I rarely order a dessert there.
