The description

In August 2025, 7-11 convenience stores released Torumochi warabi choco minto in The Seven Sweets line of treats. The confection is priced at 150 yen.

The good

In the heat of summer, I find my appetite fades. Seeking a little sweet treat, I was enticed by Torumochi warabi mochi choco mint. The confection is appealing with its soothing green label. The confection is made with warabi mochi, chocolate chips, and whipped cream. It's scented with mint. I opened the package and the mint aroma was refreshing. The confection is a blue-green colour dusted with what appears to be powdered sugar. The texture is soft and gooey, contrasting with the firm chocolate chips.

The not so good

For 150 yen before tax, Torumochi warabi mochi choco mint is a cheap and novel summer treat. I'm tempted to get another one next time I'm looking for relief from the summer heat. I can't really complain about this one. I knew what I was in for. The nature of warabi mochi, the jelly-like paste made from brachen starch, makes it a challenge to eat neatly. Don't try cutting it to share. The little cake is full of cream, too. It's a smooth, minty, chocolately goodie. It's not overly sweet. I suggest chilling it in the fridge.
