The description

This product is a Hojicha choux, and it's available for a limited time (just throughout the month of September) from Beard Papa stores. It's priced at 280 yen including tax.

The good

I've become quite a tea lover over my years in Japan -- it's something I used to drink quite a bit of back home, but I had never tried hojicha until living here, and it's probably one of my favorite tea varieties these days. If you also appreciate the warm and toasty flavor that this tea type offers, I would recommend trying out this hojicha choux which is available from Beard Papa stores from a limited time. I feel like this is such a quintessentially Japanese flavor that it's well worth trying even if you haven't sampled hojicha before. I think it's a nice alternative to all things matcha, too, which seem to dominate the tea-flavored sweets space. The price is around where I would have expected it so I don't have any real issues in that regard.

The not so good

I will say that the visual appeal for this one isn't the best, so if you like aesthetically-pleasing eats then this really isn't the best one for you. Also, I know that not everyone is a fan of the earthy, tea flavor when it comes to their desserts of choice, so no judgement there if that's the case for you! If you do like hojicha, though, this is a fun way to get your fix of it in a fun format. It will only be available at Beard Papa stores throughout the month of September, so head in while you can if you think it's a must-try item for you. Happy eating, and enjoy! :)
