The description
This product is an almond croquant, and it's a limited time offering on the Starbucks dessert menu. It was priced at 350 yen (including tax).
The good
Typically when my husband and I go to Starbucks, we get a couple of seasonal desserts to split and try out. Along with the strawberry milk malasada on a recent visit, we also got this almond croquant. Apparently the word croquant in French means "crisp" (don't quote me on that as I'm not a French speaker!) and this is basically an almond danish with a crispy texture. The almond flavor of this was really good, and there's a nice buttery richness to this as well. I think if you appreciate almond flavored things and you're looking for a relatively simple dessert then this one is worth trying out.
The not so good
I think overall, I prefer my desserts more moist than crispy, so this was just so-so for me. I liked it enough, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to purchase it again. Just not my favorite, and there are other desserts I think I'd prefer to spend my yen on! If you do like almond flavored things and don't mind desserts with more of a crispy and crunchy feel to them, then you might still enjoy this one, so head in to your nearest Starbucks store while you can if it sounds like something you'd like to try. Not sure how long it will be around for, so I would recommend sooner rather than later. Happy eating! :)
