The description This is one of Tirol’s many small chocolate squares, a newly released seasonal version. The Strawberry Gateux Chocolate, or Ichigo Gato-Shokora (苺ガトーショコラ) is available at a lot of convenience stores currently, and it cost 46 yen including tax.
The good

I quite like these! They have a rich assortment of flavours for such a small square of chocolate. The chocolate itself is rich, not quite dark chocolate but richer than usual milk chocolate. The strawberry component comes from the base, a deep rich pink on the underside of the chocolate, meaning that the strawberry flavour literally underlies the rest of the chocolate. All in all, it channels the flavours of a gateaux chocolate cake really well and an accompanying strawberry sauce! Even the packaging is quite pretty, coming in various shades of pink that are designed to be visually appealing when arranged with others in a shelf.

The not so good

I don’t really have any complaints about this. It’s tasty and it’s cheap, perfect for when you want a small treat for yourself. Some might find it a little too rich, but I think the flavours work quite well for me personally. It might be nice if they were available in a larger size or in a multipack; with Valentine’s Day only a month away, it seems like a definite possibility! As always with seasonal offerings, a downside is that they’re unlikely to be around indefinitely. If what I’ve described here sounds appealing, I suggest going out and trying one sooner rather than later - let’s enjoy them while they list.
