Places in Niigata you should visit in spring: Mitsuke English Garden
With spring not too far away, I thought I would start covering some places I've visited throughout my years of living in Niigata that are great for a visit. As everyone here is probably already aware, Japan is home to some really fantastic gardens, but the Mitsuke English Garden is a little different to the more "traditional" variety here!
It was designed under the supervision of a English horticultural researcher, so I would say it's fairly legit (?!) but having not visited England myself I can't be 100% sure! There are plenty of blossoms and other flowers to enjoy during spring, including lots of tulips, and it's just a very pleasant place for a stroll. There are also some lovely flowers here at other times of the year, such as roses later in spring and dahlias in autumn. They also do some really cute decorations in Halloween here if you're missing that holiday from home.
There's also no specific admission fee, but the recommended donation is 200 yen for adults, which is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
